Dutch Student Monitor

In 2000, the Dutch Student Monitor was instituted to reduce the number of ad-hoc student surveys feeding into educational policy. The Student Monitor survey is periodically administered to monitor key developments from the perspective of students’ socio-economic positions. An important part of the survey is the EUROSTUDENT questionnaire. The Student Monitor’s sample size is approximately 40.000 students; the average response rate is 35 percent. The sample is stratified by type of higher institution, field of study and year of study. Students receive a postal invitation from the administrative agency of the Dutch Ministry of Education to complete the online survey.
